Lana's Russian Nesting Dolls

Nesting Dolls are set of dolls that can be took apart it starts of big and in them is a smaller one. nesting Dolls were given to Russia by Japan. Now Russia's symbols is the Nesting Doll. That first set of dolls showing Fukuruma is in the Artistic Pedagogical Museum of Toys (APMT) in Sergiyev Posad, a city in Russia that is a cultural center for the making of matryoshka dolls. In 1900, Russia participated in the World Exhibition in Paris and entered various styles of matryoshka dolls. There are different shapes of nesting dolls. There are usually 3-7 in each sets of Nesting dolls. The largest Nesting Doll is 12 inches tall and the smallest is 0.25 inches tall.

Russian Nesting Dolls are dolls that are usually made from wood. Matryoshka dolls are made of wood from lime, balsa, alder, aspen, and birch trees;lime is probably the most common wood type.

The doll were made in a childeneds work shop. The dolls were done so well that they kept making them. though in 1890 the shop closed. The doll still are made to day and none of them are made in China.

The name matryohska (nesting doll) came from a very popular woman's name at the end of 19th century -Matryona. It derives from the Latin root "Mater"- mother. The Nesting doll is like a family tree because the smallest doll is like you and then the one that is bigger is like your mother if you are a girl and if you are a guy the one that is bigger is like you father and you just keep going.

In this set they made to show how this girl looked when she got older.

this is a set that shows dogs.

this is what it looks like in side each doll.
